DRAKE AND WEEKND’S AI GENERATED SONG TAKEN DOWN STREAMING PLATFORMS

The use of artificial intelligence to create a song that mimics the voices of popular musicians Drake and The Weeknd has sparked a copyright dispute.

The AI-generated track, “Heart on My Sleeve,” garnered over 8.5 million views on TikTok before being removed from social media and music streaming platforms due to Universal Music Group’s objections.

The company, which releases music by both artists, stated that digital platforms have a responsibility to prevent services that harm artists.

The creator of the song, using the handle “@ghostwriter,” claimed that AI software was trained on the musicians’ voices from existing video clips.

Although neither artist has publicly responded to the song, Drake previously expressed criticism of his voice being cloned using AI.

Reacting to the use of his voice in the AI-generated song where he appeared to be rapping, Drake noted in a now-deleted post, “This is the final straw, AI”

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about the use of AI in creative fields and its potential impact on intellectual property rights.
