Dolly Parton Recreates Her Iconic 1978 Playboy Cover For Her Husband's Birthday

Dolly Parton has whacked on some bunny ears and a tight black dress for her husband's 79th birthday.

The legendary country singer has recreated her iconic Playboy bunny cover shot as a present to her partner of nearly six decades years, Carl Dean.

She's uploaded a video of the big surprise to her Instagram page.

Dolly said: "Wonder why I'm dressed like this? It's for my husband's birthday. Remember some time back I said I was going to pose for Playboy magazine when I was 75? Well, I'm 75, and they don't have a magazine anymore.

"My husband always loved the original cover, and I was trying to think of something to do to make him happy. He still thinks I'm a hot chick after 57 years, and I'm not going to try to talk him out of that.

"In the first one I was a little butterball. well, I'm string cheese now. He'll probably think I'm cream cheese, I hope.

"Anyway, I'm going to surprise him, going in singing to him in my little bunny suit.

"What do you think? Think Playboy oughta pay me for the photo shoot? I do!"

We don't get to see Carl's reaction but you can imagine it would have given his heart a flutter to see her all dressed up for him.

Last year, Dolly revealed how much she wanted to pose for Playboy in a similar outfit after first gracing the magazine back in 1978.

At the time, the then 32-year-old was the first country singer to pose for the lifestyle mag, though she laid down some strict rules - and was clear that there was no chance of any nudity.

Looking back at her shoot, she told Radio 5 Live: "I have been asked, back in the day, but that was so totally not me. I would never do that.

"But that was a good article they ran in there, and it was just a fun thing to do. That was just another way I was trying to market myself, at that time, to kinda get in the mainstream..."

Fast forward to 2020 and Dolly thought it would be a fun 75th birthday present to herself to recreate the photoshoot, but only if it was in good taste.

A spokesperson for the magazine told LADbible last year that they would 'love to shoot Dolly again', adding: "She knows that all she has to do is say the word!"
